Color!

Another thing I love (besides chairs), is paint colors! I think it would be a blast to work for a paint manufacturer, designing new colors and then naming them! I guess that would be an odd career to have, but I could really get into it!

Now, the walls are almost all bead board in our cottage. To me, there is only one way to paint bead board walls.....WHITE!  Crisp, clean, fresh looking, white. Do you know how many different shades of white there are?? Hundreds.  Fortunately, I already have my favorite white. I chose it years ago!  It’s a Benjamin Moore color and it’s called.... Simply White!  Perfect name for a perfect color!  Not too blue, not too yellow, not too warm, not too cool, just right white!

It probably doesn’t make sense to rave about colors and then talk about white. But white is a color to me and it makes a very important statement in the decorating scheme.  With a clean white background, the colors on the furniture and artwork will pop! The patina of the old hardwood floors and some of the antique tables will contrast beautifully and will become more noticeable. Besides, it’s a sunny beach house; it just works!

This is not the beach house; it’s where I live, but don’t you just love “simply white” bead board walls????

However, so that it’s not overly boring, the bedrooms and bathrooms will have a little color on the walls. “Sweet Bluette” , “Palladian Blue”, “Outer Sphere”, and “Cameo Rose” are some of the colors I’ve chosen. Of course, the colors tell you absolutely nothing! And my photography won’t capture the colors at all on a color wheel. Hopefully, when the painting is finished, I can get some good interior photos.

Speaking of, the painting begins today and should be finished by the end of next week, Lord willing!!!!

SO MUCH FUN!

Bee-atrice and Ruth Buzzy

Last Friday, I took a trip to a honeybee farm about 3 hours from home to pick up my 2 boxes of honeybees that I had ordered a couple of months ago.  This was not without a heavy load of anxiety and trepidation.  With Mr. Dodson gone, I knew I was completely on my own.  I could not fathom the experience of traveling 3 hours with 30,000 honeybees in my car.  My fear level was pretty high, I must admit.  My daughter, The Teacher, said it was like a Fear Factor episode!  (But I didn’t win a million dollars).  Thank goodness it was a beautiful, sunny, “sapphire throne” kind of day and I focused on prayer and scripture all the way to the farm and back.  It’s amazing (although it shouldn’t be) how prayer and scripture meditation bring peace (that surpasses all understanding).  So a focus primarily on Philippians 4:13 and Philippians 4:6-7 brought me (through the Holy Spirit) the peace I needed to get through that journey. I got home that evenin...

Reflection

First day of 2016 and I’m sitting in my new Golden Retriever face t-shirt and sock monkey socks watching the Rose Parade. My t-shirt and socks were a gift from the Hospitality Manager.  The floats in the Rose Parade are still wondrous to me since childhood when I first began watching:  gigantic flower sculptures on wheels with special people riding on them!!! The balloon parade on Thanksgiving is lots of fun, but these floats are truly magical.  I guess this parade is a true joy for anyone who loves gardening and beekeeping (and fairy tales and fantasy lands). Anticipation of the new year brings eagerness, excitement, just a little trepidation, and wonder at the gifts of God’s grace. It’s going to be a bit busy this year, what with The Office reno, first time beekeeping, and a WEDDING!  I wanted to get into raising chickens, but my (egg) basket is a little full I think.  Maybe next year. I have 3 weeks booked for us at 10 Cuttin Sage; March, June and Se...

Shades of Blue

My favorite color is blue.       Blue Ridge Mountain blue.               Afternoon sky blue.               Caribbean water blue.               Hydrangea blue.               Periwinkle and Salvia blue.               Verdigris copper blue.               Carbon and hydrogen fire blue. These aren’t Sherwin-Williams colors either. These are things I just thought of when I was thinking of blue. There is a myriad of blue in nature and I love every shade of blue, turquoise, teal, mint, blue/green, etc. Blue is supposedly a calming color so it would make sense that I would love a calming color because I need to be calm. It is in my soul. I cannot live an adrenaline-driven life. Now let me digress to a new topic. We wen...
